We will be having our last preparation class before First Reconciliation this Saturday. We will review the steps but also concentrate on the Prayer of the Penitent and other prayers they should be familiar with and may need for Reconciliation. This last week we went over the Steps of Reconciliation and visited the Reconciliation Rooms. (There was a green sheet they were given to stick on the fridge to help them remember.) It was explained that they have a choice of either kneeling in front of a screen with Father on the other side or they can sit in a chair across from Father and talk face to face. I will be sending a sign-up sheet this week for everyone. It just makes things go more smoothly if you have a time to be there. (First Reconciliation is February 26th from 6-8pm.) Then everyone isn't waiting in huge lines, and you can schedule it around other things happening. Remember adults are also welcome to go to Reconciliation that night as well (It's not mandatory but some like to share the experience with their child.) I had a child ask me this week about Aunts, Uncles, cousins etc. coming. This is different from First Communion where the whole extended family may come to mass and celebrate. This should just be immediate family members for First Reconciliation. That being said, please be on the lookout for the sign-up sheet this week. I have a video this week for you from FORMED. Parents Jackie and Bobby Angel share some practical tips for preparing your child to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation for the first time. For the kids I have two very short videos on the Steps of Reconciliation. One is the Five Steps of Confession, and the other is a song by Christine in Action going over the 5 steps (some kids learn better with music). The two take about ten minutes in total to watch. Thank you again for all your support in showing these videos, taking them to Weekly Mass and assuring their attendance at the Sacramental Prep Classes. I hope your week goes well and you are able to find some of God's Blessings along the way.
